I want to double emphasise that Dr Khoo Kong Beng is not a professional doctor in O&G.
ReplyDeleteLast year I have delivered my baby (2.1kg) at Columbia Asia Seremban under the O&G Dr. Khoo Kong Beng. Right after the birth, on the pediatric checkup, we have told by the pediatrician, Dr Chin that my baby was born with right foot deformity, right hip dislocation, both leg bone is curved/ bend!, uneven rib cage, scoliosis, right torticollis, and many more. We were surprised to hear the news because we haven’t being told anything during my pregnancy ultrasound by Dr. Khoo.
Recently, my baby is confirmed a diagnosis of a disease called “Osteogenesis Imperfecta”, ie: Brittle Bone Disease. We learned from the diagnosis that those deformities could be detected during pregnancy ultrasound if a detail scan is done, eg: the bowed leg bones should have been seen in the ultrasound.
As I recall the monthly pregnancy checkup with Dr. Khoo, I can remember that he only spent 5mins on the consultation including scanning each time. I didn’t feel I am being consulted and monitored. All I know about pregnancy is from book. At my 20th week, my blood pressure result shown high but he didn’t even mentioned that to me. On my 28th week, I felt dizzy and nearly fainted so I went to normal clinic, doctor advised me to go straight to my O&G Dr. Khoo for more detail check. I went on the same day and expect something serious checking from Dr. Khoo but ended up nothing. Each ultrasound scan seem perfect, in fact my baby was extremely underweight (if compared to the grow chart). But you know what Dr. Khoo has consulted? He had comforted us with “OK”.
Starting from 28th to 34th week you expected your baby to turn down to ready for delivery. I have always insisted to have normal delivery so I told Dr. Khoo that I will wait till 36th week, and you know what he said to us at my 34th week? He said “I can guarantee your baby will not down” so he advised a c-section right after that day. We were surprised to hear that because we guess he should have known/ expected something that he didn’t tell us upfront. But we hear nothing from him still. Additionally, due to my high blood pressure, ie: 170/90, so I have no choice but to go for the next day c-section. So my baby was born at 37th week 4 days at 2.1kg (I know it sounds super underweight).
Honestly, my pregnancy checkup with this O&G was a bad experience. We would have expected the doctor to be honest, detail and kind to us in everything. Our current geneticist who follow up with my baby disease have told us those deformity could have been seen in pregnancy ultrasound. But why Dr Khoo didn't tell us anything?
Super lousy doctor !!!
